Saul anointed as Captain over people of Israel only
and not yet as King.
Saul was received as King by people of Israel
and God had to send Samuel again to anoint Saul as king but before Samuel could do that,
because Saul had disobeyed God's commandments
and so God rejected Saul as King of Israel.
The anointing of David is with Horn of Oil
whereas anointing of Saul is with vial of oil only.
Spirit of the LORD came upon David immediately
but not for Saul.
Samuel asked a strange question when anointing Saul
as Captain over people of Israel.
In actual fact...God had already chosen
David as King over people of Israel.
God had chosen the Son of David to be King of Kings...
Jesus is the Son of David
to be Anointed
with Horn of Oil
As King of Kings!
Amen!
